The Minneapolis Metro School Counselor Association is the local division of the Minnesota School Counselor Association and is affiliated with the American School Counselor Association.  The MMSCA offers professional development opportunities, counseling related resources, and collegial support to Minneapolis Area Licensed School Counselors. Inquiries about membership can be directed to Jenny Moore, Counselor at Southwest High School.

The MMSCA confronts issues unique to Minneapolis Metro schools, such as:

  • Day on the Hill – Visits to and from state legislators to improve Minnesota’s low counselor to student ratio
  • Ethical and Legal Issues – When do school counselors break confidentiality
  • Role of the School Counselor
  • Graduation Testing Requirements
  • Culturally Competent School Counseling

MMSCA Mission:
To unite, represent, support, and recognize the accomplishments of Licensed School Counselors in the Minneapolis metro area as they deliver services per the ASCA National Model in academics, social/ emotional and career services.

MMSCA Vision:
Every student in the Minneapolis metro area will have access to a Licensed School Counselor to ensure that they are academically successful and prepared for a fulfilling, productive life beyond high school.
