AchieveMpls
AchieveMpls is the local education foundation of the Minneapolis Public Schools and the designated intermediary organization that connects community resources to serve MPS students. AchieveMpls was incorporated in January 2002, and has successfully merged and integrated the programs and services of the Minneapolis Public Schools Foundation and Youth Trust, an organization whose history stretches back to 1989. AchieveMpls' mission is to galvanize community resources to help all MPS students succeed in school and become productive members of society.  Their vision is to see all MPS students graduate from high school prepared for satisfying careers and lifelong learning.  They are committed to assisting schools in building community partnerships that enhance learning, support school reform efforts that improve graduation rates, and provide students with career and post-secondary exploration experiences that make learning relevant. 

 

Project Success
Project SUCCESS is a youth development organization that works with students over a six-year period to help them develop life-skills that can transform their lives.  Through in-school, goal-setting workshops, an innovative theater program, after-school one-on-one services and additional programming, students learn to make choices and plan for their future.

 

 

Admission Possible
Admission Possible is a non-profit organization helping high school juniors and seniors in 9 schools in Minneapolis and St. Paul prepare for college.  They work with lower-income students and help them understand the college process, prepare them for the ACT with a 15 week prep course, take them on campus visits, help them search for colleges, provide help in finding scholarships, assist with FAFSA forms, and help them apply to colleges.  Admission Possible coaches are generally one to three years removed from college and come from a variety of institutions in the Minnesota area.

 

 

Commanding English High School Partnership
(University of Minnesota – Twin Cities)

The Commanding English program at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities works with Minneapolis Public Schools' multi-lingual students.  Students take college-level courses in a group.  The first semester students take courses at their high schools.  The second semester students attend classes at the U of M. 

 

 

Upward Bound

One of the Federal TRiO Programs designed to increase access to post-secondary education for low income and first generation students. The program not only guides students through the college search and application process, but also prepares them for college-level work through monthly academic workshops conducted on Saturdays as well as in-school tutoring opportunities.

 

 

Education Talent Search
One of the Federal TRiO Programs, ETS is a college preparatory program designed to increase access to post-secondary education for disadvantaged students. ETS provides students with academic advising, study skills enhancement, career exploration opportunities, standardized test preparation, and college planning including application assistance, college tours and financial aid guidance. Services are provided through a series of in-school monthly workshops. The program advisor is available to meet with students individually during or after school.
